Polyethylene is best known for its application as a block by butchers and fishmongers, but it is only an application in all the Polyethylene possibilities. Often compared to PTFE (Teflon) for its coefficient of friction, it also offers excellent resistance to abrasion, so much so that it is used to make synthetic skating rinks!
It is also particularly appreciated by industries concerned with the appearance of the parts resulting from their production because it does not mark the material. It is also found in chains guide applications. Other qualities of polyethylene can be summarized as follows: low cost, easy machining, toughness and flexibility at low temperatures, absence of odor and toxicity.Polyethylene is also an excellent electrical insulator.
There are 4 major families in polyethylenes: LDPE, HDPE 300, HDPE 500, HDPE 1000.
LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (LDPE)
Less dense than HDPE 300, 500 and 1000, LDPE is therefore less rigid, its resistance to temperature and creep is also lower and its coefficient of friction greater.
Its use is reserved for joints.
HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE 300 (HDPE 300)
HDPE 300 is a rigid polyethylene, easily thermoformable and weldable. Like the other natural polyethylenes, it is also very resistant in chemical medium. It is the material for boiler making and for non-demanding mechanical applications.

HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE 1000 (HDPE 1000)
HDPE 1000 is a very high molecular weight polyethylene (4,500,000). It is the most resilient of polyethylenes and combines good abrasion resistance with high impact resistance up to -269 ° C. Its resistance to stress cracking is highest.
